AIMS was firmly established
in May 1982 with its first Congress in London. Prior to that date
and over a period of two years, informal meetings had been held
amongst some of the world's leading marathon race directors with
a view to setting up such an association. Meetings were held in
New York, Honolulu and other venues prior to the formal meeting
in London.
RUNNER SERVICES
Water and Electrolyte Beverage at all stations on the route located
approximately every 3K along the route.
Toilets located at each station. Power Gel station located at
approximately 32K on the Marathon route.
Full medical services on the route and at the finish line.
Running Room Pace Bunnies for the Half and Full Marathon.
Bag check available for Sunday events only.
Post race massage is available on Sunday for a fee. Register on
the entry form.
Kilometre markers along the entire route.
Split time at Marathon Halfway Mark.
CLINICS
Runners interested in joining a clinic to prepare for the Marathon,
Half Marathon, 10K or 5K can do so by contacting any Edmonton
area Running Room store or online at www.events.runningroom.com.
ING EDMONTON FRIENDSHIP
WALK/RUN
Run/Walk for the ING Edmonton Marathon from the University of
Alberta Butterdome. Meet your pace bunny, get a few last minute
tips from John Stanton and head out for a short scenic fun run
or walk to loosen up your legs and work out any last minute nervous
energy.
TIMING
All Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10Km participants will use Chip
timing. Timing Chips will be picked up at package pick-up and
returned at the finish line. Chips not returned are the responsibility
of the participant and a $40 charge will be administered for unreturned
chips.
Deposits are not required.
VOLUNTEERS
Get involved with some aspect of this multi-layered event and
bring your enthusiasm and energy along. Numerous positions are
available both on and off the course. Register online or pick
up a Volunteer Entry Form at any Running Room location. All Volunteers
will receive a souvenir item and pasta dinner at the Volunteer
Orientation and Appreciation night prior to the event. A number
of draw prizes exclusive to the Volunteers will also be available.
